Google Tools to Link to Google Analytics

Google has developed three other tools that can be linked to Google Analytics that may help you track user behavior on your website more accurately, depending on what your goal is. These three other tools are Google Ads, AdSense, and Search Console. Although we will not cover how to use each of these tools this semester, I did want to give a brief overview of each of them.

Google Ads, formerly known as Google AdWords, is a way for businesses to display paid online advertisements, service offerings, product listings, video content, and mobile applications installations. Google Ads works based on keywords that allow your paid advertisement to "pop up" when someone types said keyword on their search engine. Google Ads has simplified the way for people to engage in Search Engine Marketing (SEM) by making the use of Google Ads divisible into 5 simple steps:
  1. Set a goal. Choose from increasing the number of calls to your business, increasing the number of physical visits to your store, or driving people to your website.
  2. Decide where to advertise. Choose the geographical area(s) where you want your advertisement to appear.
  3. Create the message. Create your advertisement. What is your unique selling proposition? What will make people click on your ad?
  4. Set the budget. Google will assist in setting your budget in terms of pay-per-click (PPC) to make sure you pay only what you comfortable with.
  5. Make your ads go live! Watch your ads go live and start bringing in more customers to you!

Unlike Google Ads, AdSense is not involved in the process of making advertisements, but rather in helping you select what ads by third-parties better match your website demographics and preferences. With AdSense, you can choose what ads to display in your site, where to place them, and earn revenue from it.

Google Search Console allows you to improve your performance on Google Search.
