SEO Rank Check

For this week's post, we will conduct an activity and check the SEO ranking on a particular page. I will be using a free tool SEOCentro at https://www.seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/keyword-position.html. For this activity, I will be checking the ranking of certain keywords on the site of my sorority, Theta Phi Alpha. Starting off with something simple, I will search how the keywords "theta phi alpha" rank on the thetaphialpha.org website.

Below are the results.

As the results show, the Theta Phi Alpha official website is ranked first when the keywords "theta phi alpha" are typed into both Google and Yahoo search engines. This means that when a user first types in these keywords, the Theta Phi Alpha website will be the first search result that appears to them.

Now, let's examine how the rannking changes depending on the keywords used. Next, I will check for the keyword "Benedictine" to see if our emerging chapter makes the cut.

It is not that shocking to see that "Benedictine" does not even place or rank on the official Theta Phi Alpha website given this website is the surname of two universities (Benedictine University and Benedictine College) and a drink. With the most popular related keyword being "benedictine cocktails," it not surprising that our emerging chapter doesn't make the cut. However, by changing the keywords to "Benedictine emerging chapter," the results are much more different...

As you can see, adding those two other words to the search make all the difference. "Benedictine emerging chapter" ranks the official Theta Phi Alpha website as number 1 on Google and number 2 on Yahoo and it is listed under Emerging Chapters on the official website.

Having a tool like this can help you ensure your website is doing well in terms of how it stacks up on search engines.
