About 3.5 billion searches are made using Google Search every day. People everywhere use this search engine to look for information, shopping online, comparing product prices, getting directions, or just learning something new and Google’s mission is to organize this available information and make it accessible and useful for consumers.

Google Search also has an extension to the Google Search Network. This Network allows your ad to appear on Google Search sites, results on Google Play, Google Shopping, and Google Maps (including the Maps app). Ads can also be shown on Google partners like CNN.

Google Search extends beyond text searches. Google matches keywords to:

  • Images
  • Maps
  • News articles or video footage
  • Products or services you can purchase online
  • Content in books
  • Videos
  • Scholarly papers
Optimizing your keywords and ads on all of the methods above is imperative to stay up to date with the competitive world of Google Ads.

On the next blog post, we'll cover what the keyword bidding auction looks like and what that means for you as a marketer.
